Morro Bay, CA – California Governor Newsom announced this week that retail stores throughout California, including, but not limited to, bookstores, toy stores, florists, clothing stores and music stores can reopen with curbside pickup only this Friday, May 8, 2020. Customers will not be allowed into stores. The State issued the following modification to the Shelter at Home order.
The Governor encourages retailers to encourage physical distancing and implement “hands-free” ways for customers to pay. For more information about which businesses may now operate for limited service in SLO County, please click here. Essential businesses may also continue to operate in SLO County, and the list of essential services can be found here. The City of Morro Bay continues to adhere to the guidelines established by the State and County and will allow these businesses to operate under those important health and safety measures outlined in the orders.
Plans for further re-opening of the County and state are under development. SLO County developed a re-opening plan over the past several weeks, with input from 240 stakeholders, under guidance from and overseen by SLO County Public Health Officer, Penny Borenstein. The County is working collaboratively with the State on that effort and continues to follow the Governor’s Stay at Home order.
