Fire Marshal Matt Vierra is a full time employee working Monday-Thursday each week from 7:30 a.m. - 5pm. Please call 805-772-6244 in advance to schedule appointments with Matt for:

• Inquiring about required permits
• Scheduling a work site or fire suppression system inspection
• Addressing Fire Department plan check issues

The Fire Marshal and other members of the emergency response staff are available Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. to answer general questions or to schedule appointments.

The Morro Bay Fire Department provides a wide array of fire prevention services focused on improving and maintaining fire and life safety within the community. Fire prevention activities assure businesses, structures, open spaces, and construction projects are in compliance with adopted fire codes, standards, and ordinances.

• Construction and fire suppression system plan checks
• On-site construction and suppression system installation inspections
• Management of the weed abatement program
• Business fire safety inspections
• Issuance of identified California Fire Code permits
• Special event safety inspections
• Fire Code enforcement
