About the Program
The police volunteer program has been in operation for the past 11 years. Over 30 members volunteer their valuable time to assist the department in numerous ways. They patrol the streets in marked volunteer cars, respond to traffic accidents, critical incidents, and special events to provide traffic control and scene security, search and rescue operations as well as assist with duties inside the department.
The volunteers meet monthly for ongoing training and to share information. Police volunteers log over 5,000 hours annually assisting the police department. According to the independent sector, the estimated dollar value of volunteer time in California is a minimum of $20 per hour. The benefits of these volunteers to the department and community are immeasurable. The police department could not provide the services it does without them.
